Finding Time for What Matters Most

What would your life look like if you had more quality hours in your day? What comes to mind?

Would you get more deliverables out the door?  More clients to help? More time with your family? Perhaps you would eat healthier or get more sleep. What about having more time for self-care in general, maybe even a massage or a manicure? Or how about all the above?

We all have those moments of "if only I had more time, I would [GET SO MUCH DONE!].”

So, what is your Why?

What is the first thing you would want to do if you had more time?

If you don't know, it's time to find out. Because knowing your WHY is the key to your success.

Your WHY is a desire. Even if it's small, materialistic, unrealistic, one that may change tomorrow, or it is something you want more of in your life right now. And regardless of its importance, our desires enter our lives for a specific reason. When we can let go of judgment we have around them and lean into them, we can hear its message. They may be telling you to focus, connect, jump, or the opposite to shift your focus, disconnect from something or someone or perhaps even stay grounded.

When we do not take the time to acknowledge our desires, we begin to lose touch with the feminine power we hold as leaders. And as a result, we lose our flow. We begin to run on empty, we feel misaligned, triggered and stressed.  We feel as though we never have enough time.

When we train our minds to listen to our desires, we begin our journey to self-mastery. We start to overcome what we feel is perseverance but can be agonizing because we feel like we should or have to hold on. We begin to trust our decisions, know ourselves on a deeper level and bring more joy into our lives. Self-mastery is essential for being the successful business women we truly want to be.

Awareness around our desires and our vision is one massive factor that separates successful business women from average professionals; they are aware of what they desire and they spend time on what is intended, not forced. They learn to balance their passion with what works. And even in times of imbalance, misalignment, and overwhelm during stressful times in our lives, such as in the midst of launches or big life events, they remain aware and can feel the power in perseverance, and not the dread of barely hanging.

Tapping into your desires, opposed to repressing them, is the key. This connection unlocks the door to more flow and as a result of more time and freedom in your day.

So, when you think about having more time in your day, what can you see yourself doing? With no judgment, no opinion and no concern about time or money, think about who you are with, what’s around you, what you see, feel, touch and taste.

When we are connected to our desires and we integrate them into our lives, our perspective around time can change. We begin to focus on what matters most to us and naturally begin to delegate and eliminate what is no longer serving us. You have the power to create the time for what you desire in your life.

Here are six steps to start finding time for what matters most:

Step One.  If you had two extra hours in your day today, how would you spend them? Name three ways you would like to spend your time.

1.
2.
3.

Step Two. Name your desire, your WHY.  Remember this may change tomorrow or in a minute, and that's okay. We are evolving and changing and the key is to become aware of your desires when they surface and decide on whether to pursue them or not.

Step Three. Why is your desire important?

Step Four. What would it feel like to lean into this desire more often?

Step Five. What will you need to let go so that you can connect to your desires on a more consistent basis? This may be a belief that is limiting you, a story you have been telling yourself about how you have to live and lead, an emotion that needs to be dealt with or something physical, like a relationship or career.

Step Six. Write down what your top desire is in your life. By writing it down and sharing it with someone who will appreciate and support you, you will feel the power in taking a moment out of your day for you. This is the start of personal self-mastery. Honor you.

Begin to train your brain to notice your desires. Let them surface and be acknowledged. Give them fuel and energy. Intentionally create what you want.
